The training methods we provide are based on positive reinforcement methods and also on the scientific principles of “Applied Behaviour Analysis” (ABA). This is done to establish the possible function of the performed behavioural problem and based on the outcome resolving the problem by arranging the bird’s environment. Advice given combines the above with the species–specific biological needs and requirements of the species kept.

All advice given by Parrot Advice 4 U is aimed at improving the welfare of birds. Owners can benefit enormously from the knowledge provided by us. Not only will this set both parrot and owner on a path to a trusting relationship, but it will also ensure the owner is sensitive to the bird’s well–being. “Punishment teaches a bird only what not to do, but not how to ‘learn’ what to do (S. G. Friedmann, 2005)”

Psittacines in professional collections have no reasons to perform stereotypical behaviour. Stress can account for this unnatural performance and may also appear through poor breeding results. Ensuring staff are adequately trained in husbandry and are aware of the importance of the environmental enrichment for captive held Psittacines, will prevent any of this stereotypical behaviour.
